Acupuncture
Alex trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Warwickshire and has practised in Somerset since qualifying in 1999. Alex is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, where more information can be obtained at www.acupuncture.org.uk
Alex decided to become an acupuncturist when she received treatment and realised the profound nature of this therapy. She continues to be passionate about acupuncture and attends accredited courses regularly as part of her ongoing professional development.
Acupuncture aims to restore and maintain health by the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body. By needling these points, the body is stimulated to heal, or ‘re-balance’ itself. Thus, this safe and gentle treatment addresses the whole person, rather than a collection of symptoms.

The Bowen Technique
Alex has trained in the Bowen Technique, qualifying with the European College of Bowen Studies in 2003. Alex is a member of the Bowen Therapists’ European Register www.bter.org
The Bowen Technique was pioneered by Tom Bowen in the 1950s and ‘60s. It is a gentle, hands-on therapy, using light moves applied to very specific points on the body. The treatment is non-intrusive and can be performed through light clothing. By releasing tension in soft tissue, this relaxing form of natural healing stimulates the body’s own self-correcting mechanisms. This extremely relaxing and energising treatment is very effective for muscular-skeletal problems (e.g. back and joint pain) and a wide range of other health problems.
